APPOINTMENTS/ PROCEDURES
APPOINTMENTS
Parents are frequently referred to our office via their pediatrician, classroom teacher/school, personal reference or word of mouth. The initial appointment is generally scheduled with parent or parents to discuss the child's development, learning and behavioral history.
If your child is going to be seen for an ASSESSMENT, our procedures are as follows:
1.The first appointment is with parents to gather a history and explore issues. Rating scales will be completed and /or sent to referring schools. Appropriate releases of information are completed.
2. One or more assessment appointments are scheduled for your child.
3. Subsequent to the assessment and when all rating scale data is completed, a post test review is scheduled with parents to discuss assessment results.
4. Subsequent to the posttest review, a psychological/educational/developmental report is prepared (allow two to three weeks). The original report is provided to the parent only. With appropriate written releases however , the report may be forwarded to your pediatrician and/or child's school. Note that you will receive comprehensive posttest instructions accompanying the written report.
5. A telephone conference or follow-up meeting with your child's teacher or school is typically scheduled. Meetings may be formal or informal.
6. Posttest services such as counseling are scheduled as needed
If you're child is going to be seen for COUNSELING, our procedures are as follows:
1. The first appointment is scheduled for parents to gather a history and explore pertinent issues (older adolescents may accompany parents to this first appointment. In addition very young preschool children may likewise accompany their parents so that they can be casually observed during this first meeting).
2. At the next appointment, Dr. Langenthal meets with your child individually for an interview and/or play interaction . Very young children are often seen with their parents for a parent/child play intake as well.
3. A follow-up meeting with parents is scheduled to review impressions and plan treatment approaches.
4. Subsequent counseling sessions may involve your child, parents or other members of the family.
Our goal is to provide counseling services that are typically brief and solution focused.
OFFICE PROCEDURES:
Please be aware of the following office procedures:
1. Payment for services is required at the time of service. Payments for some evaluations may follow specific schedules which are reviewed when the evaluation is scheduled.
2.In general, it is the client's responsibility to submit claims to their insurance carrier for possible reimbursement.A receipt will be provided at the conclusion of each session. Note that we are currently an in-network provider ( BestChoice Plus-BCBS), for the North Broward Hospital District), and are out of network provider for most other insurance carriers. We are exploring the possibility of becoming a network provider for BCBS, Aetna and United Behavioral Health, as these panels open
3. Counseling sessions may vary in length from 25 minutes to 50 minutes, with fees adjusted by session length. Punctuality for all appointments is vital.
4. We request at least 24 to 48 hour notification for counseling cancellations.
5. Comprehensive assessments which are scheduled at least 2-3 weeks in advance will require at least one weeks notice prior to cancellation. Ongoing patterns of missed appointments will be discussed, and may incur a fee.
6. Confidentiality as per HIPPA guidelines is maintained. Confidentiality issues are discussed at our initial session.
7. School visitations or attendance at school conferences may be scheduled. These visits incur a separate fee, unless part of a comprehensive psychological/developmental/educational assessment*.
8. Psychological/educational assessments completed at this office are , by law, accepted for consideration by public-school personnel, particularly when special-education services or other accommodations are sought (for example under Chapter 504). Note that private psychological/educational assessments submitted to the public schools must be completed by licensed school psychologists or psychologists. All evaluations completed at this office follow public school guidelines, particularly when identifying special needs children.
*School visits scheduled over three months subsequent to the preparation of the comprehensive report will however incur a fee (unless the delay is outside the parents control). Comprehensive evaluations, as discussed , generally include intellectual, achievement, information processing, developmental and behavioral assessments.
DIRECTIONS TO OUR OFFICE:
Our office is conveniently located in the City of Tamarac , just east of University Drive on Mcnab Rd. . Clients may travel north or south on University Drive until reaching McNab Road and then proceed east for approximately 1000 feet until reaching Tamarac Plaza, where our office is located. Clients located in the eastern part of the county or when traveling from Dade or Palm Beach County and are near I-95 . may travel north or south on I-95, exiting on Cypress Creek West. Travel west for approximately 10 to 15 minutes until approaching University Drive.The office is located on the south side of Mc Nab , just east of Dunkin' Donuts. The office address is 7300 West McNab Road ,Suite 212.
OFFICE HOURS:
The office is open for client contact Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 AM until 6 PM . Friday morning appointments are scheduled as needed. School visits are typically arranged during the earlier part of the school day, if possible.
